A Cliniko alternative for solo practitioners
Cliniko is practice-management software built for clinics: several practitioners, staff who share a diary, and the billing that goes with them. If you work on your own, Praxbook does the part you use — online booking, consent forms, reminders and treatment notes — and you can bring your records with you.
30 days free. No card needed.
What comes across from Cliniko
Cliniko exports one CSV file per kind of record. Praxbook reads four of them, and you upload them yourself from Settings → Import:
- Appointments (the "Attendees" export): each with the clinic, the appointment type, and the length it actually ran.
- Patients: email addresses, dates of birth and phone numbers.
- Consent forms (the "Patient Forms" export): the answers, attached to the visit they belong to.
- Treatment notes: each note on the appointment it was written during.
Importing them in that order lets each file join onto the one before it.
Nothing is saved until you have seen it
A preview of every file
Each upload is shown first: how many records it holds, what each one will become, and anything it cannot import and why. Confirm, or cancel and nothing is written.
Only your own patients
An export from a shared clinic carries everyone's appointments. You choose which practitioners in the file are you, and only their appointments come across.
Clashes are kept, not dropped
An imported appointment that lands on a time you have already booked is imported as cancelled, and listed, so nothing goes missing and nothing is double-booked.
No surprise emails to patients
An import never emails anyone. Future appointments you bring across get no automatic reminder, and the preview says so, so you can tell those patients yourself.
Your old clinics come too
A clinic or appointment type in the file that you have not set up yet is created switched off, so it holds its history without taking new bookings.
Which one fits your practice
Stay with Cliniko if…
you employ other practitioners or reception staff, share a diary or rooms, or want invoicing and payments inside your booking system. Praxbook deliberately does none of those.
Praxbook fits if…
you are a practice of one and want patients to book, answer your consent form and manage their own appointments, with your notes and history in one place and less software to learn.
What you get with Praxbook
- A booking page on your own link, unlisted — no public directory.
- Online consent forms, answered at booking, before the visit, or on your device at the visit.
- Treatment-note templates, body charts with numbered pins, and full-text search across your notes.
- Plain-text email reminders on booking, on any change, and before the appointment.
- Several locations, each with its own hours, plus breaks and time off.
- Passwordless sign-in for you and your patients: a one-time code by email.
